Currently, identifying minority entrepreneurs in the St. Louis region are disproportionately benefiting from the city’s economic success and face many challenges and barriers when starting their own businesses. In St. Louis 68% of businesses are owned by non-identifying minorities, who comprise of 48.1% of the city’s total population. Our identifying minority population comprises of 45.3% of the total regional population, owns just 32% of local businesses. There are 3 major areas where minorities need support:
